Healthcare Champions Cohort

The Confidence Doesn't Come From Policy. It comes from leadership, practice and support.

Building Safer and More Resilient Medical Clinics

Every day, healthcare professionals help people through some of the most stressful and emotional moments of their lives.

Yet across New Zealand, medical clinics are increasingly reporting abuse, aggression, threatening behaviour, emotionally charged interactions, mental health presentations and people under significant stress.

For many clinic leaders, the challenge is not recognising the problem.

The challenge is finding a practical, affordable and sustainable way to build staff confidence, capability and resilience without taking large numbers of people away from patient care.

At Group Q, we believe the answer lies in something bigger than traditional training.

It lies in building a community.

Proven Street Credibility

Over the past several years, our Good Drills and Good Space programmes have helped build one of New Zealand's largest practical safety and resilience networks, supporting about 54 cohorts and nearly 900 champions across customer-facing organisations facing similar human behaviour challenges.

Now we are exploring how to adapt that proven champion model specifically for healthcare.

The proposed Healthcare Champions Cohort brings together medical clinics facing similar challenges and helps them develop local champions who can lead conversations, build confidence, reinforce learning and support staff wellbeing.

The programme combines:

  • Practical abuse and aggression capability development

  • De-escalation and communication skills

  • Champion leadership development

  • Good Space resilience and wellbeing support

  • Healthcare-specific resources

  • Industry dial-in sessions

  • A growing community of practice

Most importantly, clinics do not need to tackle these challenges alone.

The model's power comes from connecting leaders and champions facing similar situations and helping them learn from one another.

This is not about creating security experts.

It is about creating confident leaders, stronger teams and safer clinics.

We are currently inviting a small number of medical clinics to participate in an initial roundtable discussion to help shape the future direction of this initiative.

If your clinic is interested in building confidence, strengthening resilience and becoming part of a growing healthcare community of practice, we would love to hear from you.
